IDC Luncheon hosted Mr. Michael Ward, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Newark
Division. Mr. Ward took office in Newark in March 2010. Guests enjoyed lunch
provided by the IDC before the speech.
Mr. Michael Ward started off by saying how understanding various cultures are important. We shouldn’t be afraid when we hear FBI; if we are, then, the FBI is not going to be successful. Today’s FBI is not just a law enforcement agency, it is at the intersection of law enforcement, intelligence community and the military, and it is very active.
FBI Newark Division is the largest office in the country. The Newark office
has 350 special agents and 300 supported police. The office is team of approximately 750 people. Mr. Ward says they have responsibility of all of New Jersey. He explained that after 9/11 they had to change the way they work.
They used to wait for someone to come in and inform so they could
investigate it. They have to be predictive now. They have to be proactive,
go out an engage before something happens. He concluded saying, "In order to succeed we have to work together."
After the speech by Mr. Michael Ward, guests asked some questions, which he
gladly answered. It was a great lunch and a great speech.
