Value of Women in our Community - 2010

Interfaith Dialogue Center (IDC) Central New Jersey Chapter held the 2nd annual “Value of Women Event” on Sunday, April 25, 2010 with a large attendance from different faith and cultural traditions.

The program started with welcome speeches by IDC Director Dr. Nuray Tugrul Yurt and JFK Pastoral Care Director Rev. Dr. Annari Griesel and continued with a short video presentation presented by Ebru TV.
Dr. Candemir Toklu delivered an informative speech about the current situation of women in the community in general and in the work force especially in specific areas. He stated that the society could move forward faster and easier if the placement of women in certain work areas such as education, finance and science, the social were higher.

Two important women were recognized at the event due to their huge contributions to the community. One of them was Rev. Lisanne Finston, the Director of Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen in New Brunswick, which has been providing free food to the needy in the area. The other woman was Pinar Kilic who has been volunteering for the Elijah’s Soup Kitchen and organizing the Turkish community to help the Soup Kitchen as well.
The Wind of Anatolia, the famous Turkish Folk and Pop Music Group, took the stage and offered an unforgettable Musical feast to the guests.

A feast of tasty Turkish food was offered right after the musical feast.
Everyone praised the event, and called it a great opportunity to come together and celebrate value and importance of women in the community in all levels.
